ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 — 11 - 17 December 2023

ESL One Kuala Lumpur is a Dota2 tournament that will be held in December 2023. The event will last 7 days, from the 11th to the 17th. Within its framework, 12 teams will compete for prizes in the amount of 1 million dollars. In fact, this championship is one of the last of the season, so it will be an additional motivation for the best teams in the world to show their real level.

The principle of the tournament

Open and closed qualifications are scheduled for November. Anyone who applies can compete for a slot in the main stage of the tournament. Places at ESL One Kuala Lumpur will be played in the following regions:

• North America;

• South America;

• Western Europe;

• Eastern Europe;

• China;

• Southeast Asia;

• MENA (Middle East and Maghreb countries);

First, an open qualification will be held, which will last from November 12 to 15. The next three days (from November 16 to 18) will be held the Closed stage.

Before the start of the main stage of ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023, the organizers form two groups of 6 teams. The group tournament takes place on a round-robin basis, where each team will play against all six opponents. As a result of these games, the top two teams advance to the playoffs, where they will compete in the upper bracket. The teams that took 3rd and 4th place are placed in the lower grid. Therefore, every match becomes a kind of final for them, and therefore they have no right to make a mistake. The worst teams from each group (5th, 6th place) finish their performances at ESL One Kuala Lumpur. All matches at this stage are held in the BO2 format, that is, in addition to a win and a loss, a draw is also possible.

As already mentioned above, the playoffs are held according to the principle of the upper and lower grid. For example, in order for a team from the upper grid to reach the final, it is necessary to win only two matches. In the lower grid, the path is twice as long. Every game, apart from the grand final, is played in a BO3 format. The decisive match can stretch to five cards.

The championship will be held in the Asian region, namely in Malaysia. Dota2 fans who wish to attend this tournament need to know the following information:
