More about the team Tundra Esports
Darlings of fate or a project thought out to the smallest detail? Anyone who has at least once heard about the success of Tundra Esports: Dota 2 must have wondered how the roster managed to reach such heights and stay on the shield of fame for several years. There are no secrets here: it is enough to look closely at the history of the team and the principles of its development.
History of Tundra Esports: Dota 2
The founder of Tundra Esports: Dota 2 is the British eSports organization Tundra Esports, created in 2019 by Russian-British businessman Maxim Demin. The reason for creating the team is quite simple and is determined by the Open Tour Benelux 2020 tournament, in which Maxim decided to display a roster created by him personally. To realize the goal, the businessman signed a contract with the young Mudgolems team, according to which some of the experienced and promising players transferred to Tundra Esports.
The first composition of the roster, which began to play in January 2021, looked like this:
Adrian “Fata” Trinks (captain);
At the end of 2021 , Kurtis “Aui_2000” Ling joined the roster as a coach. This player is considered to be one of the most experienced and lucky in the professional Dota 2 fan community. In 2015, as part of the Evil Geniuses team, he managed to get the title of champion at The International 2015, which really stood out for his deep understanding of the game and excellent support role for other players in his team
No one expected that the team would act so coherently that it would easily overcome the resistance of Aethra Esports Gold and take first place in the group. In addition, the team managed to repeat its success in the quarterfinals and semifinals, and only in the final did the newcomers have to give way to the Dutch team Absolute Legends.
Season-2021
2021 was a year of serious tests: most of the Dota 2 tournaments took place in Western Europe, where the competitors of the team, which, by the way, was perfectly prepared for the competition, became solid and even treacherous opponents. The most striking victory this season was the defeat of Team Liquid , but the boys failed to go to the main competition of 2021 - The International 10 . Success awaited the teammates ahead.
Off-season-2021-2022
In the offseason of 2021-2022, the team members decided to exclude the captain, whose duties at that time were performed by Adrian Fata Trinks. The ambitious Martin Saksa Sazdov took his place - the guys counted on his skills and experience. And, while many fans and pundits didn't appreciate the change, it turned out to be a good one, as both 2022 and 2023 the team awaited the desired success. The necessity of the captain's kick still remains in question, because the team's strategy was not developed by him, but by Net "33" Shapir.
Season-2022
In 2022, Tundra Esports: Dota 2 managed to prove that they are not just "another" team of adventurers and luck seekers, but a serious opponent, ready to fight for the championship in world tournaments. One of the most notable victories at this stage was second place in the GAMERS GALAXY: Invitational Series Dubai 2022 tournament. True, in the second half of 2022, the team faced several defeats, but the boys did not stop training and actively participated in competitions, paving the way to The International 11. And it was in Singapore, during the main competition of the year, that the team managed to show itself at its best side, receiving the championship title along with a prize of 8 million US dollars.
Season-2023
The 2023 season was not as successful as the previous one, but the team still tried to maintain its status - during 2023, the team's win rate was 60% and according to fans and experts, it could certainly be higher. Special hopes were placed on DreamLeague Season 20, but here Fortune turned away from the team, moreover, the tournament became one of the biggest defeats in the history of the roster during its entire existence.
